Upstage Signs Generative AI Agreement with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety

Upstage has signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) to expand food and drug safety information using generative AI. Both sides will strengthen a trustworthy information delivery system in the public sector based on MFDS's high-quality food and drug data.

The scope of cooperation is as follows.

• Building a collaborative framework for sharing and utilizing food and drug information alongside the latest private-sector technology
• Development of a Korean-style LLM and activation of the 1T (Trillion) Project
• Establishing security measures to prevent leakage of sensitive information
• Technical advisory support for building and activating generative AI at MFDS

MFDS will join Upstage's 1T Club to provide data, and Upstage will use this to expand the domestic AI ecosystem. The two will also advance the jointly operated Korean LLM evaluation leaderboard Open Ko-LLM Leaderboard, which surpassed 500 evaluated models within about two months of launch.

SOLAR API benefits were also presented. 1T Club partner companies can use the SOLAR API at discounted prices and receive a share of the revenue generated from the API business. Data provided by partner companies will be used only for training purposes, with enhanced security and personal information protection to prevent extraction of the original text.
