Upstage-Naver Boostcamp AI Tech

More than half of graduates from Boostcamp AI Tech, operated by Naver's Connect Foundation with Upstage participating as a partner company, have been found to land jobs as AI engineers.

The program is a practice-oriented education course that covers everything from AI fundamentals to development practice using real datasets. 82 faculty members, including Upstage CEO Kim Sung-hoon, CTO Lee Hwal-seok, and CSO Park Eun-jung, along with former and current engineers, lead the curriculum.

The hands-on-focused structure is also reflected in application competition rates and satisfaction scores.

• Applicants for last year's cohort increased by more than 165% compared to the program's launch in 2021.
• The 5th cohort, which finished recruiting last January, recorded a competition rate of 6:1 or higher.
• Among students who recently completed the 4th cohort, 98% were satisfied with the program's operation, and 99% said they would recommend it to others.

The curriculum is upgraded every cohort based on Upstage's advisory input, and uses the AI Stages platform developed by Upstage. Students go through the entire process—model design, building, and performance evaluation—based on real company data, and experience deployment through team-based projects. Naver Cloud also provides V100 GPU servers to support the learning environment.

The results are also notable. More than 75% of students in the recently completed 4th cohort were non-majors, and hundreds of graduates have moved directly into the industry, working at major domestic IT companies including Upstage and Naver. Graduates have achieved results across a total of 28 competitions, including 1st through 3rd place in NAVER CLOVA AI Rush 2022, awards at the 2nd K-Digital Training Hackathon, and placements at the Hyundai Motor R&D AI Competition.

Alongside its role as an education partner, Upstage also introduced Upstage AI Pack and AskUp. AI Pack is a no-code/low-code solution that lets users utilize OCR, recommendation, and semantic search all at once, while AskUp is a KakaoTalk-based chatbot combining Upstage OCR with ChatGPT, which gathered 100,000 channel friends within a week of launch.
