Upstage Launches OCR and Recommendation API Series

Upstage has unveiled an API series that lets companies easily adopt AI OCR and recommendation technology, and has begun accepting waitlist applications on its website. Enterprise customers can apply these features to their operations right away, without complex data preprocessing or model training.

The OCR API is an image text recognition solution optimized through training on real and integrated data and experimentation with various structures. It can recognize handwriting, Chinese characters, checkboxes, stamps, and signatures, and is designed to handle documents that are rotated, crumpled, read horizontally or vertically, or that have complex backgrounds.

The Recommendation API analyzes user behavior data to provide personalized recommendations, bundling training and inference into a single API that Upstage says can be adopted just by copying and pasting code. Recommendation results update in real time, and existing session logs and cookies can be used as is, reducing the need for separate data conversion work.

As evidence of its capabilities in recommendation technology, Upstage also cited achievements such as a WSDM2023 best paper award, 12th place in the ACM RecSys competition, and two silver medals in a Kaggle competition hosted by H&M. The company also noted that it currently operates enterprise services such as AskUp Doc, AskUp Web, and AskUp Slack through AskUp Biz.
