Anthropic Signs MOU with Rwandan Government

Anthropic has signed a 3-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Rwandan government, formalizing a partnership to introduce AI technology into Rwanda's education, healthcare, and public sectors. This collaboration marks Anthropic's first multi-sector partnership with a government on the African continent.

The collaboration proceeds across three main areas:

• Healthcare: Supporting the Rwandan Ministry of Health in achieving its national health goals. This includes efforts to eliminate cervical cancer and reduce malaria and maternal mortality.
• Public Sector: Supporting AI integration into public services by providing hands-on training, capacity building, and API credits so that developers at government agencies can use Claude and Claude Code.
• Education: Providing 2,000 Claude Pro licenses to educators, and formalizing existing collaboration on AI literacy training for civil servants and the deployment of Claude-based AI learning companions in 8 countries.

The partnership emphasizes respecting local autonomy in the technology adoption process, focusing on building the foundation for AI to create real social value through investment in infrastructure and technical capacity.
