Expanding Global Operations to India

Anthropic is expanding its global operations by opening an office in Bengaluru, India, in early 2026. This will be its second base in the Asia-Pacific region, following the Tokyo office.

This expansion reflects India's rapidly growing AI ecosystem and strong international demand for Claude. India ranks as the world's second-largest market for Claude consumer usage after the United States, with particularly active use in technical and programming-related tasks such as mobile UI development and web app debugging.

The key operational goals are as follows:

• Deploying AI in high-impact sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture
• Forming strategic partnerships with Indian enterprises, nonprofits, and startups
• Supporting the growth of India's IT services industry through Claude Code

Additionally, Anthropic will strengthen its Indic language support capabilities for Indian users. It plans to improve performance across more than 10 languages, including Hindi, as well as Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, to boost public-sector adoption and AI accessibility.
