Anthropic Appoints Japan Country Head and Plans Market Expansion

Anthropic has appointed Hidetoshi Tojo as Head of Japan. This appointment is part of a move to reinforce its commitment to the Japanese market by choosing Tokyo as its first office in Asia.

Head of Japan Tojo previously served as Japan Country Manager at Snowflake, and is a technology company scaling expert with experience leading teams at Google Cloud Japan and Microsoft.

Anthropic plans to officially open its first office in Asia within the next few months, and to expand its operational scale through local hiring across various teams. In particular, it plans to focus on hiring talent who understand the dynamics of the Japanese market and can meet local business standards.

Currently in Japan, companies such as Rakuten, NRI, and Panasonic have adopted Claude into their business processes. Anthropic plans to deepen partnerships with these companies while also strengthening cooperation with platform partners such as Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex, as well as policymakers and academia.
