Naver Formalizes AI Briefing Citation Count as Creator Compensation Standard — Naver Mate Announced

Naver announced 'Naver Mate,' a fellowship program for creators on Blog, Cafe, Knowledge iN (KnowledgeiN), and Premium Content. Starting in June, the program will operate at a scale of approximately KRW 20 billion annually.

The most critical change is the inclusion of AI Briefing citation count as a selection criterion. Reflecting the fact that user-generated content (UGC) accounts for 70% of content cited in Naver AI Briefing, this directly links AI's citation of information to creators' earnings.

The compensation structure is as follows:

• 3,000 creators selected monthly
• Basic activity stipend of KRW 300,000
• Top creators by topic: KRW 3,000,000
• Top creators by category: KRW 10,000,000 (up to KRW 10,300,000 per month)

This measure is differentiated in that it features a structure of compensating individual creators directly, unlike the business-to-business contracts of Google and Reddit. It stands as an important example of the platform ecosystem's shift beyond traditional Search Engine Optimization (SEO) toward Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
