SOK Foundation and UNICEF Collaborate to Support Refugee Education

War destroys education systems, and for refugee children placed in new school environments in particular, the language barrier becomes the biggest obstacle to learning. To address this problem, the SOK Foundation partnered with the UNICEF Refugee Response Office in Poland to develop the 'School Education Language Dictionary (JES)'.

JES is a Polish-Ukrainian bilingual resource covering terms essential to daily school life, including classroom instructions, subject-specific vocabulary, school spaces, and emotional expressions. Through this, students gain a foundation to follow lessons and socially interact even in new environments.

The learning model adopted an 'audio-first' approach based on ElevenLabs' voice technology. By cloning the voices of professional voice actors, it provides natural pronunciation, and is designed with a structure where students first encounter visual context and sound, then learn through games and exercises, and finally check the text—enhancing learning efficiency under conditions of cognitive and emotional stress.

Since 2022, the SOK Foundation has trained over 5,500 educators and helped more than 100,000 children. This collaboration demonstrates how voice technology can reduce learning friction and improve educational outcomes in emergency situations.
