Vimeo Adds Automatic Dubbing in 40 Languages via ElevenLabs API… Localizing 1.4 Million Minutes of Video

Vimeo has built automatic dubbing capabilities within its platform through ElevenLabs' Dubbing API. By adopting a single API that handles transcription, translation, voice cloning, and voice synthesis in one pipeline, it minimizes engineering overhead.

40-Language Support and Large-Scale Localization Results

Since January 2026, Vimeo customers have dubbed over 1.4 million minutes of video across more than 25,000 instances. The supported languages include 35 source languages and 40 target languages, with English-to-Spanish being the most common combination. Videos are dubbed into an average of 3.3 languages per video, with some cases converted into up to 39 languages. 27% of enterprise accounts have tried AI dubbing.

Creator Control and AI Ethics Policies

Vimeo allows creators to edit automatic dubbing outputs via text track editing to reflect their intent. Additionally, Vimeo prohibits using hosted videos to train generative AI models without explicit creator consent, emphasizing transparency and control when introducing AI features.
