AI21 Appoints Shanen Boettcher as Head of AI Policy

AI21 has appointed Shanen Boettcher as Head of AI Policy. The role involves implementing responsible AI policy in line with enterprise market expansion and establishing safe guardrails.

Boettcher built up experience in enterprise technology implementation and product management at Microsoft, Netscape, and Accenture. At Microsoft, he handled product management and marketing for Office and Office365, and also led product planning for multiple versions of Windows.

He was involved in ethical technology development at Responsible Innovation Labs, and also has hands-on experience with enterprise AI adoption and AI governance. Boettcher believes that LLMs and AI applications tailored to specific tasks can boost enterprise productivity. Co-CEO Ori Goshen said his joining would help better reflect customer needs and strengthen AI governance and guardrails.

Following the recent appointment of Tom Nides as its first independent director in North America, this personnel move continues AI21's strategic expansion. Boettcher also co-authored a whitepaper addressing how corporate boards should approach AI.
