Google has officially launched the Gemini app for Windows, enhancing AI accessibility in the desktop environment. This update supports Windows 10 and 11 and is immediately available to users worldwide.

Key Features and Usage

Users can instantly invoke Gemini over their current screen using the Alt + Space shortcut. This allows for various tasks such as fact-checking, generating title ideas, and drafting documents without disrupting existing workflows. Additionally, users can utilize Gemini Spark (a 24/7 personal AI agent) within a dedicated workspace to extract information from Google apps like Gmail and Google Drive, and manage complex multi-step tasks.

Media Generation and Performance

In the desktop environment, users can generate custom images for presentations via Nano Banana and high-quality videos via Gemini Omni. The app is designed to run lightly in the background to minimize PC performance degradation. However, using Gemini Spark and Gemini Omni requires a Google AI subscription and is restricted to users aged 18 and older.
