UMG Partners with ElevenLabs to Launch AI Music Platform

Universal Music Group (UMG) has signed a multi-year licensing agreement with AI voice and music generation company ElevenLabs and launched a new AI music platform. This platform allows users to generate remixes, mashups, and new versions using UMG's licensed music catalog.

Artists follow an opt-in model, directly choosing whether to participate in the platform. The initiative aims to combine UMG's rights management expertise with ElevenLabs' AI models to ensure fair compensation for creators. This platform operates separately from ElevenLabs' existing Music API or ElevenMusic generator.

UMG is already developing an AI music platform with Udio and has signed AI licensing agreements with Spotify, Nvidia, and Klay. In the industry, collaborations between major record labels and AI companies are accelerating, with Suno recently unveiling its first AI music model trained on tracks licensed from Warner Music Group and others.
