OpenRouter Raises $113 Million Series B Funding

OpenRouter has raised a $113 million Series B round, led by CapitalG (Alphabet's growth fund), with participation from major infrastructure companies including NVentures (NVIDIA), ServiceNow, MongoDB, Snowflake, and Databricks.

Over the past six months, weekly token throughput has surged from 5 trillion to 25 trillion, and the company is expected to process a total of over 1,000 trillion (quadrillion) tokens this year. Currently, more than 8 million developers use over 400 models through OpenRouter.

This round drew significant participation from core platforms building enterprise AI infrastructure. This suggests that as AI moves beyond the experimentation stage into actual production environments, the importance of the routing and gateway layer—which reliably manages and optimizes multiple models—has grown.

OpenRouter supports production workloads through the following features:

• Multimodal inference: support for image, audio, voice, video, and embedding models
• Enterprise controls: workspaces, cost management, guardrails, zero-data-retention policies
• Intelligent routing: provider-level failover, cost and latency optimization, quality-based routing

The funds raised will be used to expand infrastructure, strengthen enterprise features, and advance intelligent routing technology.
