OpenRouter Raises $113 Million Series B

OpenRouter has raised $113 million in Series B funding led by CapitalG. The round saw major participation from strategic investors in the AI and data infrastructure space, including NVIDIA (NVentures), ServiceNow Ventures, MongoDB Ventures, Snowflake Ventures, and Databricks Ventures.

Over the past 6 months, OpenRouter's weekly token processing volume has surged from 5 trillion to 25 trillion, and its annual throughput this year is projected to surpass 1 quadrillion tokens. It currently supports over 400 models and has secured more than 8 million developers.

Key roles and features:

• Multi-model gateway: Serves as a layer managing routing, cost optimization, reliability, and compliance for companies transitioning from single-model experimentation to multi-model production systems.
• Multimodal support: Provides unified support for models across various modalities beyond text, including image, audio, video, and embeddings.
• Enterprise controls: Offers Workspace, spend management, guardrails, and zero-data-retention policies for large-scale deployments.
• Intelligent routing: Provides automatic failover in the event of provider outages, along with quality-aware routing that accounts for cost and latency.

The funds raised will be invested primarily in expanding infrastructure, strengthening enterprise features, and advancing intelligent routing technology.
