Google Labs has released 'CC', an experimental AI agent for families and households, expanding its capabilities from personal agents to family-unit collaboration tools. CC maintains its own Google account to apply a clear permission model, allowing up to 6 members to manage and collaborate with the agent.

Data Access and Sharing Controls

CC can only access information selectively shared by members (such as children's school emails, swim center details, and veterinarian information). Through the 'Auto cc' feature, users can automatically share emails from specific senders, or manually share one-time texts, photos, Drive files, and more via 'Send it to CC'. User approval is strictly required when sharing information outside the group or performing actions.

Key Features and How It Works

CC resolves information asymmetry by sharing schedules and to-dos for each family member through the morning brief 'Your Day Ahead'. It also handles household logistics such as drafting permission slips, filling out activity registration PDFs, and planning weekly meals. Technically, it runs on isolated cloud computers based on Google's agentic harness Antigravity and the latest Gemini models, utilizing the Google Maps API to check real-time travel times.

Shared Memory and Accessibility

CC offers a shared memory feature that distinguishes between common information applicable to the entire household and individual preferences (such as dietary restrictions and jet lag). It is currently available to individuals aged 18 or older with personal Google accounts residing in the US. Existing users receive upgrade notifications via email, while new users can join a waitlist.
