AWS Bedrock Adds GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, and Claude Opus 5.5; Launches CloudWatch Omni and Strands Harness

Amazon Bedrock expanded its model catalog with GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna from OpenAI, and Claude Opus 5.5 from Anthropic. GPT-6 Sol targets demanding development and operations work, while GPT-6 Luna focuses on high-volume, repeatable tasks; both offer significantly lower pricing than their GPT-5.6 predecessors. Observability and Infrastructure Updates

Amazon CloudWatch Omni launched as a unified observability experience for applications and AI agents. Built on OpenTelemetry, it auto-discovers services, maps dependencies, and integrates AWS DevOps Agent for root cause analysis, accessible via a single URL with enterprise SSO.

Amazon EventBridge introduced enhanced custom event buses for cross-account event-driven applications. Features include centralized bus deployment via AWS RAM, optional event ordering, content-based deduplication, and a new ingress/egress pricing model that replaces compounding cross-account routing charges.

Amazon SageMaker HyperPod Inference Gateway provides a Kubernetes-native, GPU-aware routing layer for LLM inference. By routing based on real-time signals like KV cache utilization and queue depth, it reduces first-token latency by up to 82% in mixed-hardware scenarios and supports OpenAI-compatible servers like vLLM and SGLang.

Agent Tools and Industry Recognition

The Strands Agents team released Strands harness, an Apache 2.0 licensed, general-purpose agent harness. It supports models from Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Ollama with one line of code, reporting 28% lower costs than comparable harnesses while maintaining accuracy.
