Anthropic launches directory submission portal for Claude plugins

Anthropic has launched a directory submission portal allowing developers to submit plugins to the Claude directory. Plugins, which package MCP connectors, Agent Skills, or both, are the primary method for building third-party extensions for Claude. The portal is open to developers on paid Claude plans and guides users from submission through review to launch.

Submission and Review Process

Developers can submit plugins in two formats:

• Single MCP connector: Point to a remote MCP server.
• Plugin bundle: Combine MCP servers and skills, host them on GitHub, and submit the repository. In Claude Code, plugins can also include LSPs, commands, hooks, and agents.

The portal provides auto-validation and safety scanning upon submission. Developers can track review status, view safety scan results, and receive recommended changes. Once approved, developers control when to publish the plugin.

Analytics and MCP 2.0 Support

After launch, developers gain access to usage metrics, including how often plugins are used and which discovery paths drive traffic. This data helps optimize features for users. Claude now supports the MCP 2.0 specification, which includes a stateless core. Two extensions enhance the experience:

• MCP Apps: Enables interactive UI inside chat.
• Enterprise Managed Auth: Provides zero-touch OAuth for enterprise users.

Future Roadmap

Over the coming weeks, a unified discovery experience will roll out across Claude and Claude Code. Existing skills, connectors, and plugins in the directory require no changes from developers. In the future, developers will be able to convert existing connector listings into plugins.
