kt cloud Shifts from DevOps to Platform Engineering… Introduces Golden Paths and RAG Agents

kt cloud reorganized its CICD organization into the Platform Engineering Team in 2026, fully launching its Platform Engineering strategy to reduce developers' infrastructure operations burden. This addresses the issue where the existing DevOps philosophy, under the principle of 'developers responsible for operations,' shifted the management of complex Kubernetes manifests and CI pipelines onto developers.

Golden Paths and Platform Portal

The core is providing Golden Paths with built-in security, monitoring, and deployment standards through a dedicated team. Developers can select templates from the service catalog in the Platform Portal to receive an environment where infrastructure resources such as ArgoCD, Kyverno, Harbor, and Vault are automatically provisioned. This is an incentive structure rather than mandatory regulation; if the standard path is followed, the platform team shares operational responsibility.

Introduction of RAG-based AI Agents

Beyond simple automation, the platform supports developers through RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)-based AI agents. By indexing internal runbooks and policy documents scattered across Confluence, Jira, GitHub Wiki, and other sources into a vector DB, it provides accurate solutions to developers' questions (e.g., causes of ArgoCD sync failures). To this end, quality management and updates of internal documents have emerged as core elements of the platform infrastructure.

Evolution of DevOps

Platform Engineering is not a replacement for the DevOps philosophy, but a structural approach to sustainably realize it in large organizations. Developers still bear responsibility for service operations, but the burden is alleviated through tools provided by the platform. kt cloud is currently in the initial construction phase of the service catalog and the PoC stage of the AI agent, completing an environment where developers can focus on business logic.
