Kakao Unveils AI Technologies in Entertainment, Mobility, and Healthcare at if(kakaoAI)2024

On the final day of if(kakaoAI)2024, Kakao shared the current status and vision of AI technologies across its group companies through a CTO panel talk. Kakao Entertainment, Kakao Mobility, and Kakao Healthcare presented AI application cases in the content, mobility, and health domains, respectively.

Kakao Entertainment: AI Short-Form Video and Character Personas

Kakao Entertainment unveiled Helix Shorts, targeting the global market. This technology utilizes AI vision and multimodal capabilities to analyze webtoon images and text, extracting plot and emotional data to automatically produce short-form videos. The goal is to improve content discovery efficiency compared to existing thumbnails and reduce production costs and time. Additionally, research is underway on On-device AI that recommends content by analyzing user context and emotions, as well as domain-specific language models (sLLM).

Kakao Mobility: Autonomous Driving and Robot Delivery 'Bring'

Kakao Mobility is combining its MaaS platform and data-based algorithms with autonomous driving and robot delivery. The company is advancing technology through a virtuous cycle of collecting autonomous driving data in areas such as Gangnam and Pangyo in Seoul and training AI. The robot delivery service 'Bring' supports a single robot performing serving and delivery tasks in diverse environments such as hotels, hospitals, and offices via an AI control platform. A key strength highlighted is that the service is possible through infrastructure integration alone, without requiring changes to building structures.

Kakao Healthcare: PASTA and AI Recording Technology

Kakao Healthcare introduced 'PASTA', a blood glucose management service based on Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM). This service links blood glucose data with food, exercise, and sleep records to provide customized lifestyle improvement recipes. Through 'Food Shot' utilizing VisionAI and PASTA Voice features based on STT/LLM, it helps users easily and conveniently record health data. It provides a seamless user experience by integrating the CGM SDK for the first time in the industry, and is preparing AI chatbots and other features within the scope of compliance with medical law regulations.
