Kakao FE Internship Experience: From Onboarding to Conversion Interview

Fred Crew from the Kakao Talk FE Part shared his experience during the winter 2019 internship. The internship lasted approximately 2 months and began with a three-day onboarding program tailored to the short duration. During this period, activities included issuing employee IDs, setting up the work environment, and understanding Kakao's culture.

After department placement, I worked in the FE Platform Team, completing practical tasks and presentation assignments. The practical task involved designing improvements to address inconveniences in existing libraries, leading to an appreciation for the importance of code readability and documentation of rationale. The presentation assignment focused on a Server Side Rendering Framework, prepared collaboratively in a team of three.

During the internship, I utilized JIRA to write weekly technical blogs, reducing the time spent on work logging from 6 hours to 2 hours. Additionally, I received feedback on JavaScript style guides from my buddy and refined my code by referring to the original guide. In the conversion interview, I highlighted my challenges and problem-solving processes during the internship, and ultimately received comprehensive feedback from the team leader regardless of the pass/fail result.
