Freely v1.0.0 Released

Freely has released a lightweight, roughly 10MB AI desktop overlay, v1.0.0.

It's designed for meetings, interviews, and everyday work, and quickly launches a translucent floating window that blocks less of the screen.

Key features are as follows.

• It converts system audio to text via STT and sends it to the specified model, launched with Ctrl+Shift+M on Windows/Linux and Cmd+Shift+M on macOS.
• It supports microphone input and custom STT providers, and can be integrated via curl templates.
• It can send full-screen or region screenshots to the model manually or automatically, using Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows/Linux and Cmd+Shift+S on macOS.
• It supports drag-and-drop attachments, SQLite-based chat history, search, and Markdown export.
• The dashboard lets you manage conversations, system prompts, shortcuts, and Dev Space, and connect external APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and Grok using your own keys.

It aims for a privacy-first approach that keeps data local as much as possible, with no mandatory accounts or paywalls for core features. It's licensed under GPL-3.0, and the tech stack is Tauri + Rust + React.
