OpenAI, Oracle, SoftBank Expand Stargate with 5 New AI Data Center Sites

OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank announced 5 new AI data center sites in the US to expand Stargate, an AI infrastructure platform. With this expansion, Stargate will secure over $400 billion in investment and approximately 7GW of planned capacity over the next 3 years. This means it is on track to achieve its target of $500 billion and 10GW ahead of schedule, originally set for the end of 2025.

Sites being developed through the partnership with Oracle are as follows:

• Shackelford County, Texas
• Doña Ana County, New Mexico
• Midwest region (Wisconsin, in collaboration with Oracle and Vantage)
• 600MW expansion site near the flagship Abilene, Texas site

Sites being developed through the partnership with SoftBank are as follows:

• Lordstown, Ohio (expected to become operational next year)
• Milam County, Texas (in collaboration with SB Energy)

The flagship campus in Abilene, Texas is currently operating on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and has already deployed NVIDIA GB200 racks, beginning training and inference workloads for next-generation research.
