Accelerating the Development of Life-Saving Therapeutics

Moderna has partnered with OpenAI for mRNA medicine development, deploying ChatGPT Enterprise company-wide. Through this, the company is redesigning all business processes—including legal, research, manufacturing, and commercialization—with AI, and increasing the speed of therapeutics development.

For successful adoption, Moderna adopted a 'people-first' technology change management strategy. With the goal of achieving 100% generative AI proficiency among all digital solution users within 6 months, it ran the following systematic program.

• Individual training and use of AI learning companions
• Selection of Generative AI Champions through AI prompt contests
• Operation of an internal AI forum (2,000 weekly active users)
• AI culture-building and incentive programs through executive involvement

As a result of the adoption, mChat, built in-house in early 2023, laid the groundwork with a high adoption rate of over 80%, and the subsequently deployed ChatGPT Enterprise received an explosive response.
