xAI has launched the Grok add-in, which can be used directly within Microsoft Excel. Users can ask questions about their data in everyday language, generate complex formulas, and run various scenarios without leaving their workbook.

Key features include:

• Data analysis: When asked about the cause of fluctuations or anomalies in a specific data range, it immediately generates a chart along with an answer, specifying the cell locations used as evidence.
• Formula and scenario generation: When users describe the desired result, Grok automatically writes the complex formula syntax.
• External data integration: Through connectors, users can bring in context from recent emails and files on SharePoint or Google Drive to use in their analysis.

This Grok for Excel add-in is available free of charge to all Microsoft 365 users, and support is expected to expand to Word and PowerPoint in the future.
