xAI Launches Imagine Image 2.0 in Grok Quality Mode

xAI has launched Imagine Image 2.0 as a new Quality Mode in Grok's web-based Imagine service and iOS/Android apps. It focuses on following detailed instructions, composing complex layouts with legible typography, and maintaining consistent key visual elements across repeated generations. An API is planned for future release and is currently unavailable.

Key features include:

• Select and edit specific areas of an image using Magic Wand and Segmentation
• Remove backgrounds to export transparent images
• Utilize up to 5 reference images at once
• Expand images to fit various aspect ratios such as 1:2, 9:16, square, landscape, and 2:1 with Smart Resize
• Provide templates for photo editing, product color changes, e-commerce images, profile pictures, icons, character sprites, emojis, and merchandise creation

Maintain a common visual style when generating characters, locations, and props for video production to build a consistent world. xAI stated that Image 2.0 ranks second globally in both text-to-image generation and image editing, with grok-imagine-image-2 (low) scoring 1320 and 1439 points respectively on Arena. gpt-image-2 took first place in both categories.
