Kakao Pay's if(kakaoAI)2024 A to Z: The Developer Conference Preparation Process

Kakao Pay's DevRel team enhanced the preparation process for if(kakaoAI)2024 based on a retrospective of the 2022 conference. Through documentation and retrospection, they focused on reinforcing the positive elements identified and improving the shortcomings with new approaches.

To enhance the positive points, the following strategies were implemented.

• Speaker Supporters: A dedicated person in charge is assigned to each speaker to provide intensive care.
• Systematized Rehearsals: A CTO rehearsal was placed first to establish technical direction early on, and a 'rehearsal among ourselves' was introduced for feedback among speakers.
• Speech Coaching: Group coaching for strategic skills and 1:1 customized coaching to maximize delivery are conducted in parallel.

To improve the shortcomings, prior training for speakers was strengthened. Before writing presentation materials, the importance of setting the presentation topic and target audience was taught, and methods for structuring visualization-centered presentations were conveyed, raising the overall quality of presentations to a higher standard.
