Upstage selected as a designated company for alternative military service

Upstage was selected as a designated company for the specialized research personnel military service program for the second half of 2021. It was finally chosen among about 550 applicant companies, and plans to hire specialized research personnel up to the maximum TO allowed under small and medium-sized enterprise standards.

The hiring fields are Software Engineer and AI Research Engineer. Specialized research personnel who join will receive the same in-house facilities, training, and welfare benefits as regular employees, and will participate in developing the core product AI Pack alongside senior developers from Facebook and AWS.

Since its founding last October, Upstage has carried out AI adoption in the finance, education, and retail sectors, generating KRW 8.8 billion in revenue in 8 months, and raised KRW 31.6 billion in its Series A. It has also proven its technical capabilities by winning 5 gold medals on Kaggle, and provides OCR, NLP, and recommendation solutions that anyone can easily use and retrain.

CEO Kim Sung-hoon said he was grateful to be able to contribute to society with technology alongside highly skilled talent, and stated that the company will support these personnel in focusing on AI technology research and development during their service period.
