Apple Unveils iPhone Duo

Apple has unveiled its first foldable smartphone, iPhone Duo, confirming a global launch on October 23, including in South Korea. Pricing starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model.

Display and Design

The device features an 7.58-inch internal display and a 5.36-inch external display. Both screens support 3000 nits of brightness and maintain the same aspect ratio to ensure content continuity. A Nano-texture coating has been applied to reduce glare and creasing. The hinge is constructed with a carbon fiber plate and over 100 components to achieve both lightness and rigidity. The adoption of a Grade 5 titanium frame and Ceramic Shield 2 improves scratch resistance by 3x.

Performance and Battery

Powered by the A20 Pro chip (2nm process), sustained performance is improved by 35% compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. CPU performance is up by 20%, GPU by 40%, and the Dual 16-core Neural Engine's compute power has doubled. The dual-cell battery allows for 31 hours of video playback on the internal screen and 44 hours on the external screen. Wired charging supports reaching 50% in 20 minutes, while wireless charging (MagSafe/Qi2) reaches 50% in 30 minutes.

Software and AI Features

Running on iOS 27.1, the device features a UI optimized for foldables. When unfolded, it displays a Detail View on the left and two home screens on the right, supporting Split View and running two windows of the same app. Apple Intelligence support, including Korean, began on September 14. Siri AI is currently available in beta with English priority, with Korean support scheduled for October. The camera system includes a 48MP Fusion main and ultra-wide lens, supporting 4K 120fps Dolby Vision recording.
