Kakao Talk Drawer Interns: A Record of Growth Through Code Reviews and Mock PTs in Summer 2021

Interns moka and leean from the Kakao Talk Drive Part shared their experiences participating in the development of the Talk Drawer Plus service during their summer 2021 internship. During task execution, they learned new technology stacks such as Kafka and MongoDB, and developed their design capabilities by consulting with mentors to resolve performance issues in NoSQL DB modeling. Notably, they received 30 comments on their first Pull Request—a new record within the part—improving their coding style and readability through thorough code reviews. Additionally, they conducted mock PTs with peers ahead of the final interview, exchanging feedback to enhance their explanatory and presentation skills. They reflected that the internship was an experience where they were evaluated not just on completing tasks, but on the process of understanding the meaning and necessity of the tasks and completing them.
