Kurly Unveils UX Design and Operational Results of Beauty Personalization Service 'My Kurly Style'

Considering that beauty product purchases are heavily influenced by individual taste and skin characteristics, Kurly's Product Design team revealed the UX design process behind 'My Kurly Style', a personalization service based on user profiles. As food-focused Kurly expands into the beauty vertical, this feature was introduced as a cornerstone for understanding users more deeply.

Screen Structure Design Strategy

The profile input screen was optimized into two structures through usability testing and reference analysis.

• First-time members: A Step-by-step structure was adopted, allowing focus on one question at a time and providing friendly explanations. To prevent drop-off, a reward promotion was combined with the ProgressBar UI.
• Returning members: A List structure was applied, allowing items to be checked at a glance and quickly modified.

This differentiated application is the result of shifting from an initial single-screen design centered on operational efficiency to a user-centered perspective.

Improving the Personal Information Consent Process

A strict consent procedure was required to comply with personal information protection laws. To lower the hurdle of the re-consent popup, A/B draft prototypes were created, and through collaboration between the Product Design team and the Member Profile team, the process was finalized and supplemented with Plan C. This was an effort to find a balance between legal compliance and user experience (UX).

Operational Results and Future Plans

As of the 8th month since the service launch, the entry rate into 'My Kurly Style' among My Kurly visitors is still low, but the recommended product usage rate among customers who completed their profile input is on an upward trend. Going forward, plans include banner promotions for menu discovery within My Kurly, simplifying the consent process, and expanding into categories such as wine to advance recommendations based on personal taste.
